Seen those cool ads where they they draw things in mid-air using streaks of light in their photos? It’s super easy. All you need is your camera, a tripod, some flashlights, and nighttime.
It’s called lightpainting, and we’re gonna show you how you can do it yourself!
Thanks to Sony for their help, and for the neat Sony Alpha they loaned us!
The Photojojo Shop has been poppin’ this year and we’re tickled by all the new awesomeness. So in honor of a mighty fine 2k9 we’re going to blow you away with one-last-end-of-the-year-giveaway and a special coupon for everyone.
But we need your help to do it right. Here’s how you can enter:
Tell the twitterverse about that one goody from The Photojojo Shop you’ve been dying for (include @Photojojo in the body of your tweet so we can find ‘ya). Let’s say it’s the Zumi Digital. We’ll take your tweet as one vote for the Zumi Digital. Throughout the day we’ll be tallying up the “votes” and the most popular item will be given away at random (excluding out of stock items) to a twitterer who participated. On top of that we’ll give everyone a discount on the top voted item. Neat yeah?
In a nutshell:
Tweet your vote for the #1 must-have Photojojo Shop item
We’ll count up the votes at the end of the day and announce the most popular goody on Twitter
Then one person will be randomly selected to win said item
And everyone gets a discount on it!
or to win a Zumi Digital …
Head to our Facebook Page and tag yourself in one of the photos we’ve just uploaded on our wall (from 10-6 PST). Please only tag yourself ONCE in ONE photo (we’ve got a 50 tag limit per photo to work with). We will post 25 photos to tag throughout the day in attempts to give everyone a fair chance to enter.
Recap:

Tag yourself anywhere in the photo before the 50 person limit is capped
Didn’t make it? Wait a few, we’ll be uploading 25 photos throughout the day so you can try again
We’ll pick one of the taggers at the end of the day to win the cam!
We worked with the sosososo amazingly talented (and equally adorable) Karen Abad on this little ditty for our new Video Glasses. It brings a smile to our face every time we watch it, hope it does the same for you!
So you’ve used the spiffy panorama mode on your camera, or assembled one on your computer and it looks A-MA-ZING.
But now what? You can’t easily print a panorama, and forget about framing it. And that long strip o’ photo doesn’t look so hot online, either.
No problemo, friend. Your answer is clear: Photo Lamp! We’ll show you a super easy project to turn a panorama into a slick lampshade! This simple video tutorial walks you through the steps. (You can also find this project in our new book.)
Huge thanks to our friends at Sony for their support, and the neat CyberShot WX1 we used.
WOWZER! We can’t believe how many people participated in yesterdays giveaway! Hope you enjoyed tagging photos with us and trying out something a little different. It was a fun experiment!
We’ve built up quite a collection of cameras in the Photojojo Shop. And with the Holidays fast approaching we can’t help but picture at least one of them sitting under every Chrismukkah tree.
So how about we help in making that happen by handing out just a few?
On Monday 11/30 (that’s Cyber Monday for all you internet folk) we’ll be handing out one Fuji Instant Camera and two Ultra Wide and Slim Cameras. Some of our most popular cameras in the shop (that also happen to be my personal favs). Lucky for you, it’s quite fun to enter.
You can:
Head to our Facebook Page and tag yourself in one of the photos we’ve upload on Monday. But only tag yourself ONCE in ONE photo (we’ve got a 50 tag limit per photo to work with). More photos will be posted throughout the day to give everyone a chance to enter.
OR
Simply Tweet a link to a photo goodie you’ve got on your holiday wish list — bonus points assigned to Photojojo Shop items of course Be sure to include @Photojojo in the body of your tweet (so we can find ‘ya)!
At the end of the day we’ll pick a random winner from each site!
Three cheers for the three winners of the Photojojo camera giveaway: one is a Photojojo newsletter subscriber, another subscribes to the Craftzine newsletter, and the third is a CrunchGear commenter. We’re still waiting to hear back from two of the winners — they’re probably too full of yams and Tofurkey to even think of checking email right now — so we’ll announce their names just as soon as they confirm.
Big thanks to everyone who subscribes to the Photojojo Newsletter, Tweets, and Flickrings. We wish we could buy each of you an awesome DSLR! But alas, since there are frillions of you, that would cost grillions of dollars.
Thanks to everyone who entered to win a Nikon D3000! We got tens of thousands of entries (yes that’s right tens of thousands) and three lucky chickadees will be hearing from us soon.
And if you’re not one of the lucky winners, do not fret. (Seriously. Do not. We won’t stand for frets.) Check out all the lovely cameras in the Photojojo store, suitable for any occasion. (We’re particularly fond of the retro-awesome Ultra Wide and Slim.)
Thanks again to all the entrants, and to our friends at Make and Craft and CrunchGear for joining in!
On the scale of awesomeness, winning DLSR ranks up there at about ten thousand Awesome Points.
As luck would have it, we have three Nikon D3000s and we want you to have one. Just ‘cuz! We don’t need a reason!
But you’ll need to move fast — this giveaway is lightning-fast, and we’re picking winners at end-of-day on Monday, November 23rd. (Coincidentally, the birthday of Miley Cyrus. Just FYI, in case you had plans.)
Fortunately it’s quick, easy, and free to enter — and you can submit as many entries as you want!
Consult our handy checklist below to start racking up entries and you’ll soon be on the road to Winsville, population: you.
FourFiveSix and a Half Fabulous Ways to Win a Nikon D3000
Pay a friendly visit to our friends at for one more entry — let ‘em know how you’ll use a Photojojo tutorial or fun toy over Thanksgiving and you’ll get an additional entry.
Do you know any magical charms or incantations? We’re not saying it’ll help, but it couldn’t hurt to request that your friendly neighborhood luckdragon intervene on your behalf. You do have a luckdragon, don’t you? They’re lucky, you know.
Whew! That’s a lot of entering. Maybe you should go lie down for a bit. And then wake up and enter some more!
ps: This should go without saying, obvs, but please don’t spam! If your entries are spammy — as in, this is the only thing you’ve ever Tweeted about — we don’t count them. That’s no fun!
We got our hands on something special (and a tad devious) …
A camera shaped multi-directional squirt gun? Oh yes. We’re putting one in every shop order from now until Halloween.
Cute and tiny cameras are abundant these days, so you should have no problem innocently passing the squirt cam as a real deal.
Ask your most gullible (and forgiving) pal to “pose” for your “really cool new camera.” After pressing the trigger, you’ll have one soggy subject. Muahahaha hah! ha … ha!
